2025 Annual Report: A Year of Expansion Toward a Cruelty-Free Future

We continue to build a future free of animal testing through our work in advocacy, awareness-raising, research, certification, and outreach. Discover our achievements and the impact we’ve made this year.

At Te Protejo, we believe in a world where respect for animals is the norm, not the exception. The year 2025 was a period of significant expansion, during which the organization went beyond the cosmetics industry to demonstrate that a cruelty-free lifestyle also includes a plant-based diet and ethical fashion through the “Tu Compromiso Cruelty Free” program. Each year, we reaffirm our commitment, showing that the collaboration of different organizations makes a real difference for animals in Latin America, driving change through love and deep collaboration.

Regional Leadership and New Legal Frameworks

This year marked a milestone with the introduction of a bill to ban animal testing for cosmetics in Peru, in partnership with ARBA and following a historic agreement with the local industry. Additionally, in Chile, we actively participated in the public consultation conducted by the Institute of Public Health (ISP), ensuring that our comments were incorporated into the regulations that will take effect in 2026. This advocacy effort extended to the regional level, where we advised 30 organizations on urgent issues such as the ban on octopus farms in Mexico and the welfare of cage-free hens in Chile.

To support these advances, we strengthened our influence within the ecosystem by creating key tools, such as a stakeholder map and the publication of the Map of Alternative Methods Laboratories in Latin America. These initiatives help amplify the impact of organizations that work with animals used by various industries.

Education and Tools for Changing Habits

Through high-impact campaigns with massive reach, we’ve reached millions of people with information about animal sentience. The “More Than a Number” campaign surpassed 3.5 million views, while in Mexico we produced an unprecedented photographic record in collaboration with We Animals on animals in laboratories—material that has already been used by more than 60 organizations. We also took a decisive step in the academic sphere with the “Ethical Teaching” pilot project, aimed at eliminating the use of animals in university education.

In the area of engagement, we strengthened our market presence by rolling out the “Te Protejo” seal in 523 stores across Chile, making it easier for consumers to identify certified products. In addition, we launched the first edition of the Cruelty-Free Awards to recognize the commitment of leading brands and promote transparency in the corporate sector.

Growth and Institutional Sustainability

Our certification continues to grow as the most trusted standard in the region, reaching 201 certified brands and engaging with more than 1,000 companies this year. This growth isn’t just external; internally, we’ve professionalized our management with impact monitoring systems and strong governance, resulting in 100% of our team saying they’re proud and happy to be part of Te Protejo.

This annual report reflects the impact of a year in which we were awarded the Sustainable Woman Award and the Marca Chile Award, and in which we were finalists for the 2026 Lush Prize. Download it and discover how we continue to forge an ethical path for animals throughout Latin America.
