Mexico Consolidates Its Leadership in the Latin American Cosmetics Industry

The cosmetics industry in Mexico continues to establish itself as a key player on the international stage.

Amid a challenging global environment, the cosmetics industry in Mexico is experiencing something more profound than just an economic upswing: it is undergoing a transformation.

According to recent data shared by Canipec, the country established itself in 2025 as the leading exporter of cosmetics in Latin America, with figures that reflect sustained growth even in uncertain times. But beyond the numbers, what’s interesting is what these results say about where the industry is headed.

Growth that endures… and adapts

Despite factors such as the review of the USMCA and geopolitical instability, the sector continued to grow. Personal care grew by more than 5%, while home care saw more moderate growth.

This is no small matter: it speaks to an industry that has been able to adapt, maintain its relevance, and continue to generate value, even when conditions are not the most favorable.

The Real Change: More Conscious Consumers

One of the most important points has to do with who's on the other end: people.

Today, consumers in Mexico are better informed, more critical, and more selective. It’s no longer just about whether a product works, but about what’s behind it: how it’s formulated, what impact it has, and what values it represents.

According to the industry, a large majority of consumers are looking for products backed by science, with real benefits, and a focus on well-being. But there is also growing demand for more personalized options tailored to specific lifestyles.

And this is where everything starts to change.

Sustainability: From a Trend to a Necessity

With the introduction of new regulations such as the Circular Economy Act in 2026, the challenge for brands is no longer simply to “join the sustainability movement,” but to truly integrate sustainability into all aspects of their operations. This involves rethinking everything from ingredients to packaging, including production, distribution, and waste management.

For those of us working to promote more conscious consumption, this raises a key question: How prepared are brands to respond to this new landscape?

An opportunity to do things differently

What we’re seeing isn’t just growth—it’s a turning point. The cosmetics industry in Mexico now has the opportunity (and also the pressure) to evolve toward models that are more transparent, responsible, and aligned with what people are looking for.

These kinds of advances also encourage us to continue building bridges: between brands that are making real efforts and an increasingly informed community that wants to consume mindfully.

Being part of the change is also a decision

Today, industry growth is inconceivable without collaboration. The brands leading this transformation are those that not only innovate in their products but also build relationships, expand their impact, and purposefully open up to new markets.

At Te Protejo, we believe in this approach: supporting brands as they evolve, boosting their visibility, and connecting them with a community that values transparency, sustainability, and respect for animals.

Because expansion is no longer just about growth; it's about doing so in a consistent manner.
