Te Protejo is a member of the World Federation for Animals (WFA)
Our organization joined the World Federation for Animals (WFA), a federation that brings together more than 60 organizations from around the world working to ensure that animal welfare is recognized as an essential component of the sustainable development agenda.
In 2024, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the American Anti-Vivisection Society (AAVS), the Te Protejo became a full member of the World Federation for Animals, thereby strengthening our commitment to promoting animal welfare and to incorporating this issue into international discussions on sustainable development and public policy.
The World Federation for Animals held its first assembly on May 15, 2024, during which the organizations and foundations that make up the federation met in person and committed to working together to ensure that animal welfare is recognized as an essential element in achieving the global sustainable development agenda. Through a strategic plan, the federation seeks to position animal protection as a key issue within international forums.
The WFA follows an inclusive strategy based on trust and impact, with the goal of bringing about transformative change for the benefit of animals. This work is guided by the federation’s values: inclusion, altruism, trust, transformation, and impact.

The WFA’s mission is to improve the well-being of all animals and end exploitation and suffering worldwide through the joint efforts of the organizations that make up the federation. Its vision is to move toward a world in which animal sentience is respected, where all animals can live a good life and their well-being is protected.
Among its main goals are:
The UN should recognize the importance of animal welfare through specific international instruments.
International health and environmental frameworks should incorporate animal welfare.—International rules on trade, aid, subsidies, and investment should contribute to improving animal welfare.
As members of the WFA, our organization participates in international working groups, events, and public policy advocacy efforts, among other initiatives aimed at helping to achieve these goals. In addition, we adhere to the federation’s pledge, which you can read below.
OUR PROMISE
We believe that systemic policy changes have a lasting impact. That is why, today, we commit to working together to ensure that animal welfare is recognized as a cornerstone of the sustainable development agenda. By collaborating with international organizations, governments, corporations, and communities, we seek to pave the way toward a more sustainable and equitable world, where caring for animals is a fundamental part of our prosperity.
Together, we don't just envision a different future—we actively work to build one in which the well-being of all living beings is one of our primary measures of progress.
For our organization, becoming a member of the World Federation for Animals (WFA) represents an important step in our work on behalf of animals and in moving toward a future that is more mindful, empathetic, and ethical toward all sentient beings that inhabit our planet. We thank the American Anti-Vivisection Society (AAVS), whose sponsorship made our inclusion in the federation possible.
