Issue Color: Cruelty-Free Cream Hair Color

Achieving an attractive hair color—one that combines beautiful color, excellent longevity, and the highest quality—is possible thanks to cruelty-free alternatives like Issue Color. Below is a review of my experience using this brand’s cream hair color.

The story behind the brand

Issue's history dates back to 1977, when two young, entrepreneurial chemists decided to use their expertise to begin manufacturing and selling cosmetic products out of their garages in Argentina. In 1985, they launched a product that was innovative for its time: the hair color sachet. This was the first hair dye in this format in the country, which helped position Issue as a high-quality brand that was affordable for everyone.

The company continued to grow, and in 1999, it launched a new line called Issue Professional, which includes a complete line of hair color products exclusively for hair salons. It then successfully entered the international market, offering its product portfolio in countries such as Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Ecuador.

Today, Issue—which has merged with Godrej, a family-owned company of Indian origin—continues to offer a wide variety of high-quality hair coloring and hair care products at affordable prices. It has a presence in various countries in Latin America and the United States, and, notably, it is certified as cruelty-free.

Where can I find your products?

Issue Color and Issue Profesional products can be purchased through various channels:

  • Online sales: Available on platforms such as GPSFarma, FarmaOnline, and Mercado Libre.

  • In-store sales (Argentina): They are available at perfume shops, retail stores, supermarkets, and pharmacies belonging to well-known chains such as Farmacity, Pigmento, Las Margaritas, Tomassa, Carrefour, Jumbo, and Coto, among others.

User Experience

For those who, from an early age, enjoy dyeing and cutting their hair as a form of self-discovery and style exploration, it’s common to alternate these processes with periods of rest to maintain hair health. After one of these breaks—and motivated by the news that Issue had obtained the Cruelty-Free certification endorsed by Te Protejo—the user decided to resume coloring her hair.

The shade chosen was Blue-Black, a color that's ideal for achieving a shiny, even look without having to dye your hair too often.

The application process

At a local store, I was able to purchase the sachet in the desired shade along with the cream developer, since I already had the necessary supplies at home (such as gloves and post-coloring treatments). It’s worth noting that, for those who don’t have these items, Issue also offers complete kits that include the hair color, developer, gloves, and appropriate treatments.

The at-home procedure consisted of the following steps:

  1. Mix the hair color and cream developer in a bowl until you have a smooth paste.

  2. Protect your hands with gloves and your clothes with a towel.

  3. Apply the cream to dry, unwashed hair, working it in from the roots to the ends, and leave it on for 20 minutes.

  4. Apply the treatment to the roots and let it sit for another 20 minutes.

  5. Rinse your hair thoroughly with plenty of water until the product is completely removed, and then proceed with your usual shampoo and conditioner routine.
