Garnier and Its Green Impact: 24 metric tons Recycled at a Festival
Garnier participated in the region's most sustainable festival in 2025, for the second consecutive year. The green beauty brand, which was in charge of recycling during the event, collected more than 24 metric tons of waste, including glass and plastic.
As a sustainable beauty brand, Garnier played a key role at the Lollapalooza Chile festival by overseeing the Rock&Recycle program. This initiative aims to recruit volunteers and manage the event’s waste for recycling, thereby preventing the generation of trash.
A Renovated Booth at Aldea Verde
In its first appearance in 2024, Garnier had a booth in the Aldea Verde, the festival’s most sustainable section, where various NGOs and foundations also gather. In 2025, its space was recognized as the most sustainable at the event. For this edition, the booth was redesigned to be more eye-catching and to further emphasize the brand’s commitment to the environment, offering sustainable beauty experiences that included hairstyles featuring accessories (charms) made from recycled materials.

Commitment to Opposing Animal Testing and Natural Formulas
All Garnier products worldwide are officially approved by Cruelty Free International. The brand received this seal of approval as part of the Leaping Bunny program, led by this organization that works to end animal testing through globally recognized standards.
For more than five years, the company has been committed to developing more natural formulas, pioneering the introduction of certified organic products to the mass-market skincare sector. Among its sustainability achievements and goals, it is worth noting that 99% of the ingredients used in its products are vegan. In addition, by 2030, the company aims to have 95% of its ingredients sourced from abundant minerals or circular economy processes.
"We firmly believe in cutting-edge science inspired by nature, and thanks to biotechnology and green chemistry, we can achieve our goal for the next decade. We are committed to the well-being of all living beings, which is why we trace the origins of every ingredient we use, ensuring that none contain animal-derived ingredients,” emphasizes Pablo Giménez, director of mass-market brands at L’Oréal Chile.

Reducing Plastic Use and Renewable Energy
Currently, 65% of the packaging for the brand’s various products is made from recyclable materials, and 45% of the plastics used annually have these same characteristics. As a result, more than 18,000 metric tons of virgin plastic were saved in 2023. “By 2030, we aim to reach 100%, which will allow us to save 40,000 metric tons of plastic per year,” says the executive.
In the short term, Garnier aims to ensure that the energy used at its industrial sites is 100% renewable. "As a company, we are committed to achieving a low-carbon business model to combat climate change. This is achieved by reducing energy needs through energy-conservation measures and improving the efficiency of our facilities, while increasing the use of local renewable energy," notes Giménez. The brand is also committed to sustainable sourcing, reducing the environmental impact of packaging, improving the biodegradability of its formulas, and supporting vulnerable communities.
Transparency and Strategic Alliances
All of these commitments are detailed annually in its Sustainability Report, a document that demonstrates that progress in this area is a fundamental pillar for both the company and its consumers. It is a green beauty brand that leads initiatives aimed at educating and inspiring people to make more conscious and responsible decisions when it comes to caring for the planet.
Finally, since 2020, Garnier has maintained a partnership with Plastic Oceans, a foundation that works collaboratively and across sectors to reduce plastic pollution. As strategic partners in environmental and recycling efforts, they have led initiatives such as beach cleanups and are also planning to clean up rivers and wetlands in the near future.
